HISTORY:

The battle of Samobor is based on events from the first half of the 15th century. It all started in 1439, when King Albert Habsburg died, and all over Croatia and Hungary began a struggle for the taking over of power. The queen Elizabeth sided with the mighty Counts of Celje along with ther army leader Jan Witowec, and on other side Stjepan Banić Lendavski led the army of Polish king Vladislav Jagelović. Two years later – at Pepelnica, on March 1, 1441 – the troops came to Samobor, and the fierce battle ended with the victory of Witowec, who captured a considerable prey and army leader Banić.
